nice turtle
Hello,
Another big thanks to everyone who left me a message, I always read with pleasure and always make me an old well.
Another little anecdote of the Bible Camp, a Congolese artist came to lecture on Christian music. He first explained that music is an invention of God, the angels were playing music and therefore it is sacred. But beware if a song is not Christian so it is unholy, wrong. While other musicians, profane are in cahoots with Satan. Here I begin to ask questions. Then he explains that secular musicians go to cemeteries at night to call and they eat human excrement in order to enter a trance ... Finally He explains that there are also songs such neutral national anthem ...
Good old dual vision, anyway I do not agree with that vision, for me life is a little more complicated than this. Nor has he talked about classical music, folk music or even S'Kanett!
Last week I met a scout Congolese nice turtle, head of the "Burning Bush". We discussed scouting and he invited me to attend a meeting. As he looked pretty open so I agreed.
This Sunday I have therefore reached. It crazy as it looks to Scouting that I know. We were able to discuss our camps, organizing regional and national, our totems, the promise and its problems with its young leaders. Religion is of course present but to a lesser extent than the rest. The message is suitable for children with the Jungle Book, Cubs, salvation, the currency and the law. It's a nice team like ours where we form critical and responsible citizens (well almost). I'll return it I'm also good to see other heads from time to time.
These days we follow the European weather, in fact, several French colleagues saw their flight canceled because of the cloud Icelandic. In any case they have a good excuse for missing the resumption of their work.
Now I got my stride on the job, because at first I did not have much to do. Now my schedule is full and I put in my road projects. And this advance, despite the power outages, corrupt cops drunk and colleagues behind. The other day our English court, it was dark and there was no electricity, annoying when you have 25 students. We left the generator, and have plugged in the house. To the Congolese it gives two son buried in a sheet. Well it did not work! We then started to light oil lamps, was intimate! Then the power came back and left three times during the course.
They are very cool these children despite what some say about them. It seems to me that they were accustomed to having stagiaireeees (female) and not interns when the coup with Matthew and I are served at a father figure.
Something special that I probably never live elsewhere, is to live with my director and her children. Eating together, sharing her salon, ask the sheets, to say goodnight! Indeed, here we are only few differences between private and professional life. Besides, sometimes I miss my freedom, to be home and do what I want to cut completely with the job, children running around constantly with us out of this rigid Christian framework (which is particularly association). All this pushes me to create spaces of freedom where with Matthew (luckily he was there he!) We leave, we'll walk, meet new people and even drink a beer (of sight) !
It is true that I have to keep my position with respect to beliefs, culture, ways of doing things. It's unsettling, it calls into question, sometimes shocking, it assaults you, it's a lonely path, but it brings me closer to my values, what is important to me and finally I feel know me better, better know who I am.
The distance brings us sometimes, or transforms our relationships, a thought to my parents, grd grd Grandpa and Grandma Jacques lysis, Grd-Nelly, Philippe, the whole family Moulinneuf with my nephews and niece, my friends , S'kanett and "Dove", I keep you all in my heart.
Thanks and see you next for new adventures. Jean-Yves
